JEAN
R. CRANMER, |
Dr. Cranmer is an Associate Professor of French in the Department of Foreign Languages. She holds a Ph.D. from Tulane University in French literature with a minor in linguistics. In the summer of 2000 she completed a three-week certification workshop at the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris in teaching business French. She has published articles and presented scholarly papers on twentieth century French poetry and on language teaching methodology, including the use of multimedia and streaming video. Dr. Cranmer has been active in UNO's international programs, having served as the former director of UNO in France and as a member of several international committees: the Liberal Arts International Studies Committee, the International Students Recruiting Committee, and the University Committee on Internationalizing UNO. A former director of the area studies minor programs in Africana, Asian, European, and Latin American/Caribbean Studies (http://www.uno.edu/~cola/programs.html), she is currently an active member of the advisory committee for the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies program (http://www.uno.edu/~cola/programs.htm). For over twenty-five years she has co-produced and co-hosted an hour-long weekly French radio broadcast produced by WWNO public radio in New Orleans, in cooperation with the Consulate General of France. Rendez-vous airs locally on WRBH (88.3 FM New Orleans), as well as on KLCS in Shreveport, on KRVS in Lafayette, on WRBK in Charlotte, NC, and on WDNA in Miami. It is available on the internet through links at http://www.espacefrancophone.org and http://www.radiolouisiane.com. The program features news, music, cultural information and interviews with personalities from France and the French-speaking world. Dr. Cranmer is a member of the Board of Directors of the French-American Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana and was decorated chevalier in the Ordre des palmes académiques by the French government.
