The Presence of Department of Foreign Languages in UNO International Programs
I. The University of New Orleans, Innsbruck International Summer School, July-August. Over 5000 students from more than 300 universities have participated in this program, one of the best and largest international summer programs in Europe.
Some 50 courses are being offered every summer by UNO faculty as well as guest faculty from other US and European universities. The students choose from courses in Anthropology, Business Administration, Drama/Communications, Economics, English, Fine Arts, Finance, Geography, Geology, German, History, Managment, Music, Political Science, Sociology, etc. The courses are specially selected for the European experience, enhancing living and learning in the heart of the Alps.
The Department of Foreign Languages participates with courses in German and occasionally other courses. For more information call (504) 280-7116.

II. UNO's "The Glories of France" in Montpellier, France, July. This program offers summer study for college credit to university students and high school students. Montpellier, located just 7 miles from the Mediterranean beaches, combines the dynamic of a cosmopolitan city with the provincial charm of southern France. Students are placed into one of ten different levels that emphasize oral proficiency and communication skills. Instructors are all native speakers and professors at the Université Paul Valéry.
All classes taken in the "Glories of France" program carry 3 hours of credit each. In order to receive credit through the University of New Orleans, students register for at least one of four courses in French offered by UNO with the choice depending on the prerequisite hours they have completed.

III. UNO -Costa Rica International Summer School, in San Ramón, Costa Rica, May-June. Located in the central valley, San Ramón is a friendly town with open-air markets and people strolling around the "plaza". Its mountainous highland location is ideal during the summer months.
All courses are taught in English (except for the Spanish language courses). Courses are from the regular UNO catalog; each offers 3 semester hours of credit. Examples of fields in which courses are offered: Biology, Geography, Geology, History, English, Political Science, Spanish. The department of Foreign Languages is in charge of the Spanish language offerings.

IV. The University of New Orleans - Université d'Orléans, France exchange program. The Department of Foreign Languages offers the opportunity for UNO students in any major, with a good command of French, to participate in an academic-year exchange with the University of Orléans, France. Under the program, UNO students spend the academic year in Orléans, while a like number of French students study at UNO.

V. The University of New Orlean's "Center Austria." The Department of Foreign Languages collaborates with this newly instituted Center, which sponsors the Academic Year Abroad Program at University of Innsbruck, Austria.

VI. Australia :

UNO’s exchange program with Southern Cross University in Australia.Southern Cross University offers students the opportunity to study a quality academic program at Australia's most sought after address. Students have the best of both worlds; study away from the distractions of the larger cities, but with easy access to them if required, in an environment of unsurpassed natural beauty with some of Australia's best beaches, rainforest and countryside. SCU is a prime location for marine biology majors, which is how the exchange got its start. Now open to all majors, SCU is an ideal destination for students from all walks of life.

Brazil :

UNO’s exchange program with Universidad Federal da Bahia, Brazil. Speak Portuguese in Brazil!!! The University itself was founded in 1946 and became part of the federal system in 1950. It is currently one of the largest and best known institutions of higher education in Brazil, offering a full range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in all fields, including the Biological and Health Sciences, Linguistic and Literature, Fine Arts (especially music, theater, and dance) architecture, Engineering, Philosophy, Social Sciences, and Business Administration, among others. The university is Located in the exotic city of Salvador, which shares a certain joi de vivre with New Orleans, UFBA is a great place for students who speak Portuguese to find their musical roots.

Uno’s exchange Program with Universidad Diego Portales (UDP), Chile, is located in Santiago. Universidad Diego Portales currently enjoys prestige both at home and abroad, and has eight different Schools (Economics and Business / Communication and Information Sciences / Engineering Sciences / Human Sciences and Education / Law / Architecture, Design and Fine Arts / Humanities), 30 Undergraduate Programs and 27 Graduate Programs.The UDP is one of Santiago’s most enterprising institutions. Open to all majors, this exchange is good for students who can speak Spanish.

Summer Program in Sam Ramon

UNO’s exchange program with University of Costa Rica! The core of the program is a five week stay in Costa Rica at the University of Costa Rica, San Ramón. In keeping with the mission of the UNO-COSTA RICA program, courses taught are those enhanced by the setting in Costa Rica and Central America. A concerted effort will be made in all courses to reinforce the classroom instruction with the rich cultural, social, historical, and ecological surroundings.

France : Aix en Provence
Paul Cézanne University is situated on two main campuses in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille.. Aix-en-Provence is famous for its historical and cultural heritage. Marseille is the second largest city in France and a major European center. The university offers a wide range of studies. Université d'Orleans
Located in Orleans, an hour west of Paris, the Université d’Orleans is one of UNO’s most diverse partnerships, exchanging students and faculty from many different disciplines. Fluency in French is required, however French language courses are available as part of the exchange for intermediate French language students. Universite d'Orleans offers a three-week intensive French course at the pre-elementary level before each semester begins. Students whose French is below what is necessary for regular classroom work will be placed in the appropriate level of French language instruction.
